The caller sheet for Gem Finder phone outreach. Every business below was rechecked live on Oct 23, 2026: the breakage is still there, the business is confirmed open on Google Maps, and the phone number comes from the Maps listing.
CALL SCRIPT: Gem Finder phone outreach (Tugboat)
For the caller. Open the lead's row on thestudio.io/gemcalls first so you can see the screenshot while you talk.
BEFORE YOU DIAL
- Check the business is still broken: tap "Visit the site" on their row. If it loads fine now, do not pitch. Log "Fixed already" and move on.
- Have the screenshot open. It is your whole pitch.
- Best windows: Tuesday to Thursday, 9 to 11 am and 2 to 4 pm their time. Avoid lunch rush for restaurants (call 2 to 4 pm) and Monday mornings for everyone.
- Max 3 attempts per lead, different days and times. After 3, park it.
THE OPENER (15 seconds, friendly, local)
"Hi, this is [YOUR NAME] with Tugboat here in Denver. Quick heads up, not a sales pitch: your website is doing something you probably have not seen. [USE THEIR LINE FROM THE SHEET, for example: Right now it shows an online gambling site / Your domain is listed for sale / Anyone who clicks your website link on Google gets a 404 error.] I have a screenshot of exactly what your customers see. Can I text it to this number so you can look?"
IF THEY SAY SEND IT
- Text the screenshot link from their row, plus one line: "This is [NAME] from Tugboat, here is your site as customers see it today: [link]"
- Then: "We fix exactly this stuff. We get your real site back, and then we watch it around the clock so it never silently dies again, because this probably happened months ago and nobody told you."
- Goal of this call is ONE next step, pick it: (a) a 10 minute call tomorrow to walk through the fix, or (b) send the details by text/email and follow up in 2 days. Get a yes to one of them, then log it.
IF THEY ARE SKEPTICAL ("Is this a scam?")
- "Fair question. Do not take my word for it: Google your own business right now and click the website link. You will see it yourself. I will wait." (Silence is fine. Let them look.)
IF THEY SAY "I HAVE A WEB PERSON"
- "Perfect, then this is a free heads up for them. Send them the screenshot, they will want to see it. Sometimes the domain itself expired, which is a registrar thing, and the clock matters because anyone can buy it. Want me to text it to you so you can forward it?"
IF THEY ASK PRICE
- "Fixing it depends on what died, so I will not invent a number. The watch plan after the fix is $39 a month, cancel anytime, and it exists so this never happens silently again. First step is the 10 minute look, no charge." [Caller: if Dave has set a different current price, use his.]
VOICEMAIL (keep it under 30 seconds)
"Hi, this is [NAME] with Tugboat in Denver, [HAPPYPHONE NUMBER]. Heads up about your website: [THEIR ONE LINE]. It has likely been like that a while. I am sending the screenshot to your email so you can see it. Call me back and I will walk you through the fix. Again, [NAME], [NUMBER]."
GATEKEEPER ("What's this about?")
- "It is about their website being down. Customers are hitting [THEIR LINE] right now. The owner will want to know today, it takes them 30 seconds to look. Is there a better time to catch them?"
HARD RULES
- Never argue, never push twice. A clean no is a good outcome: log it and move on.
- Never claim we emailed or called before unless the log says so.
- If the site is fixed or the business is closed, log it honestly. Bad data helps nobody.
- Log EVERY call right after it ends (outcome + one line of notes + next step). The log writes to the page, the Google Sheet, and the local backup automatically.
Hard breakage a regular visitor hits: site down, domain dead or hijacked, homepage 404. Business confirmed open on Google Maps, phone in hand, screenshot verified.
The site is up but frozen, unlaunched, or stuck on a placeholder. Business open, phone in hand.
Breakage confirmed and business open, but no phone number found yet. Find the number, then call.
