Learning music in public. Writing 50 songs. Building E2.

Day one of writing it all down

Hi. This is my blog now. I have been writing songs, practicing piano, and building a whole planet, and it occurred to me I should be writing about that too. So here we are.

Quick version of me: I started learning piano from zero and gave myself a 99-day challenge. Practice every day, post the proof, mistakes and all. No highlight reel. You get the wrong notes and the slow metronome work and the small wins as they happen.

I am also writing 50 songs. I have 40 done. You can hear them on SoundCloud and Spotify. They are sketches of a kinder world, written by someone learning as he goes.

And then there is E2, the planet we are building together. Our world is a 70 out of 100. E2 is an 85. Kinder, safer, better run. Everyone here tries to be an RGKP, a really good kind person. That is the whole filter.

That is the setup. More soon. Day by day.

The 99-day piano challenge, honestly

People ask what the 99-day challenge actually looks like. Here is the honest version.

Day 1 through 20: I could barely find middle C without looking. My left hand had no idea what the right hand was doing. I posted anyway. That is the whole point of doing it in public. If you only share the good days, you are lying about what learning is.

Day 20 through 60: something clicked. Not talent, just repetition. The same scale, the same chord changes, every single day. Boring is the shortcut. There is no hack, there is just showing up.

Now: I play every day and post it on Instagram. Wrong notes included. Somebody messaged me last week saying they started learning too, because if I could post my bad days, they could start their day one. That message is worth more than any perfect take.

If you are thinking about starting something hard: start. Post day one. The cringe is the tuition.

40 songs down, 10 to go

Song 40 is done. Ten left in the 50-song run.

Here is what writing 40 songs taught me. The first 10 were me figuring out that I did not know how to write songs. Songs 10 through 25 were me learning the shapes: verse, chorus, bridge, the way a melody wants to resolve. Songs 25 through 40 were the first ones where I stopped imitating and started sounding like myself.

Nobody talks about this part. The middle of a big creative run is not inspiring. It is Tuesday. It is sitting down when you do not feel like it and writing the bad verse so the good one has somewhere to land.

The songs live on SoundCloud. All 40. The rough ones are still up, because deleting your early work is deleting the proof that you started somewhere.

Ten to go. Then the real question: which of these deserve to be played by real humans, on a real stage. Short Bus premieres first. That is the plan.

Why E2, and why now

e2.life is live. The whole planet, not a splash page. I wanted to write down why.

E2 is another planet. A whole second Earth, built better. You do not drive to E2. You arrive, if you are ready. Our world scores a 70 out of 100. E2 is an 85. That gap is everything we are building.

The North Star is kindness. Not as a slogan, as the actual filter. Every decision, every world, every story points back to it. Is this good? Is this kind? Is this for really good kind people? If yes, build it. If no, do not.

Season One is the map. Twelve characters, six worlds, six story arcs, all connected by tags. Season Two brings five new faces and the Pirate Island story. The cast keeps growing. The world keeps growing.

Here is my ask. If you are a really good kind person, there is a place for you in this. Apply. Come build a better world with us.
