His story
Buster was the kid who got laughed at until he figured out how to get laughed with. Somewhere around age nine, after tripping over his own feet in the school cafeteria and sending a tray of spaghetti flying, he heard the room erupt, and instead of running, he took a bow. The bow got a bigger laugh than the fall. He has been taking bows ever since.
He is Pixel's first hire and its head of physical comedy, which is a title Sally invented because "guy who falls down funny" did not fit on a business card. Buster does his own stunts, which is easy because every Buster scene is a stunt. He once did seventeen takes of walking through a doorway because he kept finding new ways to get stuck in it. The animators kept all seventeen.
Underneath the pratfalls is the softest guy at the Studio. Buster remembers everyone's birthday. He cries at every premiere, including his own. When a new animator was too nervous to pitch, Buster volunteered to pitch it for them, did the whole thing in a falsetto, nailed every beat, and gave them full credit. That is Buster in one story: the laugh comes first, and the heart is right behind it.
