Biscuit, fully open sourced
Our 60 second animated short about a stray dog whose superpower is love, released the full open way: the film, the complete production script, the scene clips, the narration takes, even the prompts. CC BY 4.0, credit The Studio, then make it yours: dub it, rescore it, restage the script.
Biscuit: From Stray Dog to Superhero
The downloads: the finished film (12 MB), the full source as one ZIP (79 MB: script, prompts, six scene clips, narration lines and voice takes), the script to read in your browser, and the public source repo where it all lives.

The open catalog
Nineteen films that belong to everyone
Twenty years of open cinema, gathered in one place. The Blender Foundation and Blender Studio invented this: make a film with free tools, then give the film and its source files to the world. Nina Paley went further and gave her feature away outright. Press play on any poster and the film screens right here on this page, streamed from YouTube: we host none of the video. Every download below comes straight from the maker's own server, checked by us on October 25, 2026.
Steamboat Willie
The cartoon that introduced Mickey Mouse to the world, whistling at the wheel of a steamboat. Its copyright has expired and it now belongs to everyone on Earth: download it, screen it, sample it, build on it.
Elephants Dream
The first open movie ever made: a surreal journey inside an infinite machine, built to prove free tools could make real cinema. This whole page exists because this film happened.
Big Buck Bunny
A gentle giant bunny defends his forest from three bullying rodents. Probably the most remixed, re-rendered and re-released open film in history.
Sintel
A girl crosses a frozen wasteland searching for the baby dragon she once rescued. The open movie that made the whole internet cry, and a masterclass in story.
Sita Sings the Blues
One artist animated the Ramayana as a 1920s jazz musical, alone at her computer, fought a copyright battle over its songs, and then gave the finished feature to everyone, forever, no credit needed. A crown jewel of open culture.
Tears of Steel
Robots besiege Amsterdam, and the only weapon left is a forty year old broken heart. Live action and heavy VFX, released completely open.
Cosmos Laundromat
A despairing sheep named Franck is offered a spin through every possible life. The lush pilot for Blender's most ambitious open feature project.
Caminandes: Llama Drama
A Patagonian llama, a busy road, and an armadillo with strong opinions. The first Caminandes short, where the great llama saga begins.
Caminandes: Gran Dillama
Koro the llama will do anything for the greener grass on the other side of the fence. The second Caminandes, and the fence has never fully recovered. This copy travels under the share alike flavor of CC: remixes stay open too.
Caminandes 3: Llamigos
Two llamas, one patch of Patagonian grass, endless rivalry. Two and a half perfect minutes from the Caminandes series, the comedy wing of the open movie world.
Glass Half
Two art critics argue over a single painting until the argument itself becomes the art. A cartoon with a hand drawn soul, made to prove a point about style.
Agent 327: Operation Barbershop
The Netherlands' favorite secret agent walks into a barbershop and everything escalates beautifully. Four minutes of spy spoof polish.
Hero
A hand drawn hero trains in a city built from ink and paper. Blender's Grease Pencil showcase: 2D animation drawn directly inside 3D space.
The Daily Dweebs
One minute with the Dweebs, the tiniest open family in animation. A pilot short that became a Blender Studio staple.
Spring
A shepherd girl and her dog wake the ancient spirits of the mountains. Poetic, wordless, and quietly stunning.
Coffee Run
Fueled by espresso, a young woman runs backward through the memories of a past relationship. Dreamed up and finished during lockdown, pure momentum.
Sprite Fright
Five teens, a dark forest, and mushrooms with strong opinions. Blender Studio's horror comedy, with its biggest cast and sharpest jokes.
Charge
In a future where power is nearly gone, an old man defends his last energy cell from scavengers. Four of the most cinematic minutes open film has ever produced.
Wing It!
A cat, a mouse, and a homemade rocket that absolutely should not fly. Blender Studio's love letter to classic cartoons.
About the source files: a finished MP4 is the movie, the source is the movie's kitchen. Blender shares the production files for these films (the 3D scenes, assets, storyboards and scripts) through Blender Studio, much of it free with an account. Download a film here, then go pull apart how it was made.
Open scripts
Scripts anyone can shoot
A script is the cheapest form of a film: paper today, a movie tomorrow, in anyone's hands. These are free to read, download and produce, with credit.
Biscuit: the full production script
Character design, scene by scene visuals, camera angles and narration, the exact document our film was made from. Shoot it live, animate it your way, translate it, write the sequel.

Read or download the script ›Biscuit: the generation prompts
The prompts that generated every scene of the film, published alongside it. A tiny free film school in one file: see exactly how each shot was described, then write your own.

For the Blender films above, the story work lives inside the production files at Blender Studio: scripts, storyboards, animatics and every asset. That is the open source promise kept in full.

What you can actually do
CC0: public domain
The maker gave the work to everyone, completely. Use it for anything, no credit needed, no permission, ever. Sita Sings the Blues lives here.
CC BY: free with credit
Use it, remix it, sell work made with it. The one ask: name the maker. Nearly everything on this page, including our own films, lives here.
Public domain classics
Works whose copyright has expired belong to everyone by law. Our watch library next door is full of them, from Steamboat Willie to Night of the Living Dead.
One honest line that covers almost everything: you may use these films inside your own work, but do not resell the raw files themselves as a stock library. That is the whole fence. Everything inside it is yours. A couple of films travel under CC BY-SA, the share alike flavor: same freedoms, one extra rule, anything you make from them stays open too.
Open source your film
Made a film? Set it free.
Pick a license (CC BY is the friendly default), publish the film with its script and source files, and tell us. We will catalog it here with your name on it, and your film starts traveling to places your upload button could never reach. Biscuit is film number one. Yours could be number two.
