It started with a kids book. Short Bus is the story of six teenagers, one little yellow short bus, and five days at Pine Lake Camp. Kids who would rather be anywhere else, slowly learning to hear one another.
Then the characters started singing. Sally found her voice on a rooftop. Marty turned comedy into armor and then into a whispered song in the dark. Haddie led a Sunday morning. Tex told a rainy-afternoon truth. Each song arrived like it had been waiting for its kid.
Eleven of the fifteen songs are recorded. The last four are on their way. When the set is complete, we press it to disc, the old-fashioned way, something you can hold, give to a friend, keep in the car.
